ChatGPT in My Development Process: From Content to Code
Adnan Abdu Rahman5 min read
ChatGPT and Claude Code solve different problems for me, and I use them differently because of it. Claude Code lives inside the codebase — it edits files, runs builds, and ships changes. ChatGPT is more often where I think through a problem before I touch any code at all.
Research and structure, before a line of code
Before building a new section for a real estate client — say, a project category system like the one on this site — I'll use ChatGPT to pressure-test the information architecture: what categories actually make sense for how a visitor thinks, what a hiring manager or property developer is scanning for in the first five seconds. That's a conversation, not a code change, and it's worth having before any implementation starts.
Content and copy
A lot of a website's actual value to a client is the words on it — page titles, meta descriptions, case study copy that doesn't read like a template. I use ChatGPT as a drafting partner for this, then rewrite it in the client's actual voice with their actual facts. AI-generated copy that nobody edits is obvious and it reads badly; AI-assisted drafting that a human then makes accurate and specific is a real time saver.
Debugging as a conversation
Sometimes the fastest way through a tricky bug is to explain it out loud — why is this backdrop-filter breaking a fixed-position menu, why is this image cache serving stale files. Talking it through with ChatGPT often surfaces the actual cause faster than staring at the code alone, especially for issues that sit at the intersection of CSS, browser behavior and framework internals.
Where I stop using it
I don't let ChatGPT write client-facing claims I can't verify, and I don't ship code it generates without reading and testing it myself. For UAE businesses trusting me with a real estate platform or an ERP system, the accountability for what ships is mine — AI tools are part of how I get there faster, not a substitute for checking the work.
